RTO/ERO Scholarship Program ~ 2010
The Retired Teachers of Ontario/les enseignantes et enseignants retraités
de l’Ontario Scholarship Program awards up to 25 individual scholarships
annually of $1,000 each.
Please note that this scholarship program is intended to assist only
applicants pursuing teaching from an accredited teacher training facility.
Examples of eligible programs include concurrent BA/BEd university programs
and programs leading to BEd qualifications.

Scholarship Application Form
Deadline Date
The close of business, Eastern Standard Time, on Monday, August 9th, 2010.
Applications received after the deadline date will be considered late
and not eligible for consideration. Applications
Applications are available only in an on-line completion format at the
RTO/ERO website: http://www.rto-ero.org/ ; no hard copies of this
application will be mailed or emailed.
Eligibility Program and Proof of Enrollment:
Enrolled in a full- or part-time program which will lead
directly to a career in teaching in Canada at the time at which the Project
- STO (Scholarship) Committee meets to consider the applications (September
24th, 2010). Evidence of enrollment must be included. An Offer of
Enrollment is not sufficient. Please provide official documentation that
supports acceptance such as, but not limited to, one of the following:
1. Letter of Acceptance 2. Letter from Registrar confirming enrollment
3. Tuition Receipt
Citizenship A resident Canadian citizen or a landed
immigrant. If applicant is a successful scholarship winner, applicant will
be required to complete a Form attesting to citizenship status.
Relationship to RTO/ERO Sponsor A child, grandchild,
niece, nephew, grandniece, grandnephew, son-in-law, daughter-in-law or
step-child of an RTO/ERO member.
Attachments Attachments to this on-line application
must be submitted as either a Word or PDF document - no exceptions. All
attachments must be in typewritten format.
Application Process if Requested Information is not Provided
On-line Applications will not be electronically forwarded to the Provincial
Office if all requested information is not provided. Applicant will be
prompted regarding the information needed to complete the Application.
Application Process Applications with requested
information provided are electronically forwarded to the Provincial Office
and automatic acknowledgement emails are sent to applicants. Electronic
applications received at the Provincial Office are reviewed and processed.
If the information contained in the application is complete, the
application will go forward to the Committee for consideration. If the
information contained in the application electronically forwarded to the
Provincial Office contains inaccuracies, it will be returned to the
applicant by email outlining the reasons for its return.
Notification to Applicants of Committee’s Decision
All applicants will be advised in writing of the Project - STO (Scholarship)
Committee’s decision on or before October 30th, 2010.
Consent If successful, RTO/ERO will contact both the
applicant and the RTO/ERO sponsoring member to obtain their written consent
for RTO/ERO to announce the name of the successful Scholarship Applicant and
the name of the sponsoring RTO/ERO member.
