RTO/ERO Scholarship Program ~ 2012

Documentation and Process Information

Applicants who omit any of the following are disqualified from consideration:

• Proof of enrollment for the 2012-2013 academic year - see below
• A current academic/extra-curricular/co-curricular/leadership letter of reference
• A current community/volunteer/coordinator/employer letter of reference
• A minimum 300-word essay
• A fully completed application

Eligibility

Program
Enrolled in a full- or part-time program which will lead directly to a career in teaching in Canada. If successful, applicant will be required to furnish final proof of enrollment.

Citizenship
A resident Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant. If applicant is a successful scholarship winner, applicant will be required to complete a Form attesting to citizenship status.

Relationship To RTO/ERO Sponsor
A child, grandchild, niece, nephew, grandniece, grandnephew, son-in-law, daughter-in-law or step-child of an RTO/ERO member.

Deadline Date
The deadline date is 4:30 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time on August 1, 2012. Applications received after the deadline date will be considered late and not eligible for consideration. Applications are available only in an on-line completion format at the RTO/ERO website: http://www.ero-rto.org/application; no hard copies of this application will be mailed or emailed.

Awarding of Scholarships
RTO/ERO Scholarships are awarded on a one-time basis. Applications from previous RTO/ERO scholarship recipients will not be considered.

Documentation - What is Needed

• Proof of enrollment for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Evidence of enrollment must be included. An Offer of Enrollment is not sufficient. Please provide official documentation that supports acceptance. Please attach one or more of the following:

A letter confirming enrollment from the Registrar or other University personnel for the 2012-2013 year Please note that a Conditional Offer stating that you will be admitted to a program is not sufficient

A statement of tuition paid ~ either deposit paid or full amount paid. Please also note that students applying who are currently enrolled in years two to four of a concurrent program must still provide proof that they are enrolled for the 2012-2013 year.

• Current academic/extra-curricular/co-curricular/leadership letter of reference.
• A current community/volunteer/coordinator/employer letter of reference.
• A minimum 300-word essay.

Documentation - What Can Be Attached

1. File types you can attach: doc.; docx; pdf.
Please note if you attempt to attach files other than those listed above, your application will not be electronically submitted.
2. Size of attachments: individual files cannot exceed 500Kbytes. Please note if you attempt to attach files larger than 500Kbytes, your application will not be electronically submitted.

Process - If Application Complete

• Application is electronically forwarded to the Provincial Office of RTO/ERO.
• Automatic acknowledgement email will be sent to applicant.
• Information contained in the forwarded application reviewed by Provincial Office RTO/ERO staff.
• If information is complete, the application will go forward to the Committee for consideration.

Process - If Application Contains Inaccuracies

• Submitted Application will be returned to Applicant by email outlining reasons for the application's return.

Notification to All Applicants of Committee's Decision

• All applicants will be advised in writing of the Project - STO (Scholarship) Committee's decision on or before Monday, October 29, 2012

Appeals

• The decision of the Project - Service to Others (Scholarship) Committee is final and not subject to appeal.

Successful Applicants and their RTO/ERO Sponsors
Successful applicants will be required to complete, sign and return a Consent Form to:

• permit RTO/ERO, either at the District or Provincial level, the use of their name and/or contact information for publicity-related events;
• confirm their citizenship status;
• confirm their enrollment status and provide Final Proof of Enrollment: a Letter of Acceptance to the Program or a Confirmation of Enrollment from the University.

RTO/ERO sponsors of successful applicants will be required to complete and return a Consent Form to permit RTO/ERO, either at the District or Provincial level, the use of their name and/or contact information for publicity-related events.
