HOW TO JOIN RTO/ERO
Who is Elligible:
- A retired teacher receiving a pension from the
Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (typically public and designated
private schools in Ontario)
- A retired teacher opting for a deferred pension
from the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan
- A retired teacher opting for the commuted value
of his/her contributions to the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan
- The surviving spouse of a Full or Associate
member not eligible to receive a teacher's pension
- A retired educator receiving a pension from the Ontario
Public Service or the equivalent from a Canadian
jurisdiction outside Ontario
- A retired educator receiving a pension from a
University or College in Canada
- A retired teacher receiving a pension from a teacher's
pension fund outside Ontario
- A retired teacher receiving a pension from a
non-designated Ontario private school
- A non-educator divorced spouse of a Full or
Associate member
- A retired non-educator employee of an Ontario
School Board or educational organization
- An individual, actively employed in education,
not retired and will be eligible upon retirement to be a Full or
Associate member
