 Pathways to Education ~ Lawrence Heights

I am writing you to share a volunteer opportunity for your members.  Pathways to Education-Lawrence Heights is an organization that provides social, academic, advocacy and financial support to students as they complete secondary school and go on to further studies and employment. We are working in the Lawrence Heights community and rely on volunteer tutors and mentors for your programming.

The commitment is 2-3 hours 1 night per week. We provide training and volunteer appreciation events throughout the year. Our training sessions are taking place throughout next week and weekend for the month of September.

We would very much like to have some of your membership who have experience working with youth volunteer with us.

I have attached our current recruitment flyer. Could you collaborate with us by sharing it with your membership via email, on the Stony Bridges bulletin board or at your next event? We would greatly appreciate you help in this effort.

If you have any questions please contact me at the information listed below.

Thank you for your support,

Daniela Mantilla

Our greatest needs are in the following areas:

By way of introduction, Casey House Foundation was established in 1992 and raises approximately $1.4 million a year in support of Casey House Community Programs that include:

  • Four Casey House nurses and our volunteer team managing and caring for a regular caseload of 100 individuals at any one time in our Home Hospice Program, providing ongoing medical care and support throughout the year

  • Providing basic necessities that many of us take for granted like common over-the counter medications, mattresses, dentures, socks, toothbrushes.

As well, we raise much-needed funds to support:

  • 24 hour on-call medical care, giving those living with HIV/AIDS access to doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals;
  • The Care for the Caregiver Program;
  • The Resident Care and Comfort Program that helped to purchase the basics like groceries, eye glasses and TTC tickets for medical appointments;
  • Bereavement support for family members, friends and loved ones;
  • Casey House’s Recreation Therapy Program;
  • Casey House’s Complementary Therapy Program that includes massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, aromatherapy and therapeutic touch.

Since 1988, Casey House has distinguished itself worldwide as a leader in providing supportive, respite, palliative and end of life care for people living with HIV/AIDS in our residential hospice, home hospice and community programs. Our mission is to assist the women and men with HIV/AIDS in living their lives to the fullest for as long as we are needed.

I look forward speaking to you again in the near future. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at . Thank you so much Mary Ellen.
