9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL
Thursday, March 22 - St. Jacob’s Playhouse Theatre.
This is a light hearted award winning musical written by DOLLY PARTON. After a leisurely drive to the St Jacob’s Market to browse and purchase a wide variety of fruit, vegetables, crafts, etc. we are off to the THE CROSSROADS for a wonderful buffet lunch (save room for desert). Then the bus will take us to the St. Jacob’s Playhouse Theatre to see the production. Only $88.00.

RAGTIME
Thursday, April 26 – Shaw Festival Theatre

In this powerful musical portrait, an era of innovation and unrest is set to the rhythms of ragtime. A sweeping saga of turn-of-the-century America, seen through the eyes of three very different families, based on novelist E.L. Doctorow’s kaleidoscopic fusion of suburban New Rochelle, Harlem and New York City’s Lower East Side, with surprise appearances from the likes of Houdini, Emma Goldman and J.P. Morgan. A heady tale of love lost and won, lives lost and saved and a country struggling to define itself.

This is an excellent show that had a long run at the North York Center back in the mid 90’s. Lunch will be at Michaels Inn following either shopping at Niagara-on –the-Lake or a winery tour in the area. This package will cost $120.00.

SOUND OF MUSIC
Thursday, June 7 - Drayton Festival Theatre

Nothing needs to be said, we all know this wonderful story of the Trapp family. We begin with a drive through Waterloo and St. Jacobs for short shopping stops at Bodee’s and Picard Peanuts then continue on to Anna Mae’s Restaurant in Millbank for lunch. From there it is back to Drayton for the production. Then home. Cost $99.00.

PETERBOROUGH LIFT LOCKS AND LUNCH CRUISE.
Thursday, September 27

We begin at CRAFTWORKS MARKET for a chance to browse among the unique gifts and treasures offered by local crafters and antique vendors. Then on to Peterborough for a pleasant and relaxing 2 hour lunch cruise, with musical entertainment, along the Trent River and through the LIFT LOCKS. On the way home we will break our trip with a stop at Algoma Orchards with its baked goods and apple products. Cost of this trip will be $95.00.

PIRATES OF PENZANCE
Thursday, October 18, Avon Theatre, Stratford

It has been a long time since we last saw a Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera and I hope we will all enjoy the ageless antics of this G&S production. Lunch will be at The Queen’s Inn in Stratford following some shopping time on the main street.
NOTE: We have been assigned A seating, not our usual A+ seating, these seats are on the sides of the Avon theatre from rows C to J. Price is reduced to $129.00

COBOURG CHRISTMAS MAGIC
Thursday, December 6

A much later start than we are accustomed to: we will leave at Noon but will have a very full day of shopping and touring. Our first stop will be in Bowmanville at the Archibald Orchards and Estate Winery followed by stops at the World Famous Chocolate Co. Store, in Cambellford, and the Empire Cheese Co. Modern Western Square Dancing

What a healthy exercise modern western square dancing is! It keeps your brain sharp and your heart pumping. Such regular exercise leads to a slower heart rate, lower blood pressure and improved cholesterol. The side to side movements aid in preventing bone loss and may help in the rehabilitation from heart or knee surgery. During a dance session you can burn 500 calories.

Square dancing is universal, danced with the same calls in English anywhere in the world. The dance pattern is directed by a caller and all we do is listen and follow. The music reminds me of the 50s to 70s. Just ask any square dancer how much fun we have!

I was once fixed up on a blind date to go square dancing. I married him 18 months later and enjoyed over 15 years of wedded bliss. He died at age 99 while still able to dance the full night away that same month.

If you can walk you can square dance. It’s stimulating mentally, very friendly and the most entertaining exercise you can imagine. Square dancing is the perfect exercise.
